Launched on 17th October 2011, the 100-cover brasserie is grade II listed, situated at 8 Pall Mall, London, within the Sofitel London St James. Offering French-British cuisine, the menu has been created by Head Chef Vincent Menager. His previous experience includes working under Albert Roux, Frédéric Anton (Le Pré Catelan, Paris), Alain Dutournier and Alain Ducasse.
Framed by two oak spiral staircases The Champagne Balcony overlooks the brasserie and showcases the Champagne vault, with a tasting table situated beneath. The Champagne Angel, Christina Larsson, is on hand to provide expert advice to guests on the wine list and extensive Champagne and sparkling wine offered. The private dining room, separated from the brasserie by silk curtains, will seat 14 guests.
Designed in collaboration by Russell Sage Studios (previous projects include The Savoy and The Goring Hotel) and Gorgeous Group, the space combines a brasserie, the St James Bar, a charcuterie bar, a Champagne Balcony and tasting table.
With both classic French and British cooking styles and ingredients, The Balcon will offer breakfast, morning tea and savouries, lunch, French and English afternoon tea, Champagne and cocktails, charcuterie, dinner and late night dining. There is also a market menu and pre-theatre menu available from 11am to 7pm, with a choice of two or three courses for £16 or £20.
