Looking back over the past year, 2011 has certainly been an interesting year to say the least!
It’s been a year filled with incredible excitement, thanks to not one, but two Royal Weddings – Wills and Kate and of course Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall. In contrast, there were global shockwaves following Japan’s disasters, the demise of Osama bin Laden and Colonel Gaddafi, the Arab Spring, the unprecedented Summer riots in the UK!
Also taking place over the past year have been the untimely deaths of Pete Postlethwaite, Amy Winehouse and Steve Jobs, the anti-capitalist “Occupy London” protest movement forcing the closure of the landmark St Paul’s Cathedral for the first time since the Second World War, the EU’s financial crisis and phone hacking scandals galore.
On a more positive note, New Zealand won the World Cup Rugby Tournament and who can forget the epic feat by David Walliams, who took on and completed the toughest challenge of his life by swimming 140 miles of the Thames in eight days – all for Sport Relief!
Last but not least, the countdown to London’s hosting of the 2012 Olympics! The excitement in this city is palpable and everyone is gearing up for the thousands of officials and visitors expected next year. It’s going to be a brilliant year for London, filled with wonderful events and celebrations including the much anticipated Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and I for one am really excited to be here to experience it all!
It’s been a real pleasure to work with you again over the past year and on behalf of everyone here at MVP, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all an absolutely wonderful festive season and a very happy New Year. We all very much looking forward to working with you in 2012.
